Orange Gratin

8 large seedless navel oranges
1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
1/4 t. ground cinnamon
Vanilla ice cream (optional)

Slice the rest of the peel from all of the oranges, including the white pith, and discard it. Working over a shallow, broilerproof, nonreactive baking dish, slice all the sections from the oranges, letting the sections and juice fall into the dish. Sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.

Broil for about 8 minutes, until the sugar is melted and the oranges are bubbling and hot. Serve immediately, plain or over vanilla ice cream.

Serves 8.
