Figgy Pudding

2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1-1/2 c. flour
1-1/2 t. baking powder
1 t. salt
1 t. vanilla
1/4 c. milk
1/2 lb. dates, chopped
1 c.  nuts, chopped
1/4 lb. butter
1-1/2 c. brown sugar
2 c. boiling water

Cream sugar and eggs. Add flour, baking powder, salt, and vanilla alternately with milk. Add dates and nuts. Pour into a greased 9 x 13" pan.

Mix together butter, brown sugar, and boiling water. Pour over batter.

Bake at 350 degrees for about 1 hour.
