Cheese Savories

2/3 c. all-purpose flour
1 t. baking powder
1/4 c. butter
3 oz. freshly grated cheddar cheese
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
1/2 c. milk

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Oil two baking sheets.

Place the flour and baking powder in a medium bowl. Rub the butter into the flour, then add the cheese. Season with salt and pepper and stir in enough of the milk to make a stiff dough.

Roll out on a lightly floured work surface into a very thin sheet. Use a cookie cutter or small glass to cut into rounds, or a sharp knife to cut into straws.

Place the savories on the prepared baking sheets and bake until golden brown, about 10 minutes.

Serve hot or at room temperature.
